Ryan McDonagh said on Saturday that hopefully this was "rock bottom early on" for the Rangers and that this is a real "gut check" time."
McDonagh said that the Rangers have no one to blame but themselves and that an inability to play a 60 minute game has been the story so far this season.
He said that there is an understanding of the expectations both for the team and individually and that the Rangers need to play with more "edge and desperation."
Ondrej Pavelec said that when the Rangers make one mistake now things start to snowball against them. (MSG)
The Rangers remaining games in October are against the Penguins, Islanders, Predators, San Jose, Arizona, Montreal and Vegas.
All of those games except the Montreal game are at MSG.
Adam Rotter: I don't know if this is rock bottom but it is a place the Rangers have been before. just not this early in the season. They've had the turnover problem before, the early goals against problem before, the one mistake snowballs into 10 mistakes problem before. All of these problems, and the others that the Rangers have, are correctable. There are holes in the their lineup, no doubt, and guys are still finding their roles or their way but this team, in spurts, has shown they can play fast, execute their system and win. Again, this all seems so easy. Fix the problems the Rangers are bringing on themselves and they will put themselves in a much better position to win. They won't always win because sometimes there is a hot goalie and there is another team on the ice, but the Rangers will do themselves a big favor if they can get out of their own way.
