8/22/17 | Bobby Farnham will attend Rangers training camp on a PTO, according to Larry Brooks.
Farnham has played in 67 NHL games including 3 last year with Montreal.
Farnham, 28, is 5-10 and played in 71 AHL games last season in St. John, scoring 11 goals and 17 assists.
He played 11 games for Pittsburgh in 2014-15, 3 for Pittsburgh in 2015-16 and 50 for the Devils in 2015-16.
With the Devils he had 8 goals, 2 assists and 92 PIM.
The 2015-16 Sports Forecaster magazine wrote of Farnham, "he plays the game of hockey like he's a cartoon character, specifically the "Tasmanian Devil' from Looney Tunes. He has an incredible amount of energy and is constantly hitting opponents and provoking them to take foolish penalties. If only Farnham could produce more offense, as he's a rather limited talent for the NHL."
In his career, Farnham has had 11 NHL fights and 54 in the minors.
Last season he had one fight with Montreal and 6 in the AHL.
Adam Rotter: Farnham seems like an extra body to have around in camp and maybe someone who can play in Hartford as a depth player, creating energy and, despite his size, doing what needs to be done to protect/defend teammates. He's a depth type of player who seems like he can bring some of what Tanner Glass did when the Rangers brought him up last year. For him to get anywhere near the Rangers in the regular season though, a lot needs to happen. It's pretty much no risk to bring him in to camp on a PTO and with a different set of skills than almost any other Ranger has, he could prove to be an asset or a role player, either in Hartford or with the Rangers, at some point this season.
