Boo Nieves will make his NHL debut tonight for the Rangers and is slated to start on the fourth line between Brandon Pirri and Oscar Lindberg.
Nieves said that "Ken Gernander gave me a call and said pack your bags, you are going to Vancouver" and added that it all felt "sudden."(NYR)
Nieves said that he needs to use his size and speed and that those attributes are things "they love about me."
He said that one of the biggest adjustments from college to the pro game is the amount of downtime he has since he doesn't have to run to class anymore and just goes home after practice. (NYR)
Jimmy Vesey, who played with Nieves in Traverse City in September, said that Boo's speed definitely fits in with who the Rangers are. (NYR)
Asked about Nieves earlier today, Alain Vigneault said "he had a good rookie camp in Traverse City. Our group felt that he was right behind Jimmy and Pavel. He got injured, came back, played, played well, he has been playing well in Hartford and our guys thought that he deserved to come up and we will take a look at him tonight."
