11:24PM: Alain Vigneault said of the hits (MSG):
- Updates on Vesey and Staal, "they both took shots to the head. They were held off and we will know more tomorrow."
- On the hits, "my opinion is that it's very hard to figure certain things out from game to game. I'm just gonna leave it at that otherwise I will get myself in trouble."
11:12PM: On MSG, Dave Maloney said of hit on Staal, "I thought that the Emelin hit with Staal, unfortunately for Marc he got himself into a bit of an awkward spot. He looked like he was on his way down and then comes Emelin. The point of contact looked to be shoulder to head, head to glass and I think you can make the case that he was off the ice at the point of contact. That one I think is 50/50."
On the hit on Vesey, Dave said "the one that was egregious to me was Forsberg. I remember thinking right at the point of the hit that it sure looked like the point of contact was the elbow and I would even argue that it was borderline late. I thought that at best case the officiating was mediocre."
10:10PM: The Rangers have announced that both Jimmy Vesey and Marc Staal will not return to tonight's game with upper body injuries.
Staal was hit by Alexei Emelin in the second period and went straight to the Rangers locker room.
- He played 8:50 in the game, 6:33 in the first and 2:17 in the second.
Vesey took an elbow to the head from Filip Forsberg, was bleeding from the mouth and went to the Rangers locker room.
- He played 6:03 in the game, 4:07 in the first and 1:56 in the second.
Vesey returned, played a couple of shifts and then went back to the Rangers locker room with medical trainer Jim Ramsay.
