Dreger said, "there are some big names in play, leading up to the trade deadline we speculated about the future of Cam Ward. It is highly likely that Cam Ward will be traded in the summer even though he has the no-trade clause. The names just seem to get bigger, we are talking about Jeff Skinner and even the possibility of Eric Staal, the captain of the Hurricanes potentially being in play...primarily for financial reasons but obviously this is a significant shakeup that is in the works."
Dreger says that a lot will also depend on if GM Jim Rutherford wants to move upstairs in the organization or "perhaps out of the mix entirely."

He adds that with the Hurricanes planning to cut payroll it's likely that it won't be that attractive of a situation for Marc Staal this summer. (NY Post)
Brooks wonders instead about Eric, 29, whose contract expires in 2016 and is owed $27,750,00 over those three years, potentially joining the Rangers instead of Marc joining him in Carolina. (NY Post)
