His agent says that Mara is looking for a guaranteed contract and "he's not going anywhere on a tryout."
In the NY Post today, Larry Brooks wrote that the Rangers should look into Mara as a possible veteran addition.
As Brooks notes, Mara knows how Tortorella likes to play, but also saw Mara leave when he was in Tampa and with the Rangers. Mara's best attributes, to me, come in the locker room and not necessarily on the ice. He is probably at the same level as Steve Eminger, though with a better shot and size, but it will be interesting to see if they want to guarantee him a contract and have him be with the club all season.
Mara and Mike Rupp had an altercation when he was a Ranger.
