1/13/18 | Chris Kreider can begin working out as soon as the pain from the surgery subsides. (NY Post)
1/9/18 | 5:20PM: The Rangers announced that Chris Kreider underwent successful rib surgery on Sunday and will be reevaluated in six weeks. The team says that Kreider remains out indefinitely. (NYR)
The Rangers say that following the surgery Kreider will remain sidelined indefinitely.
Stamkos played his last game that season on 3/31 before returning for Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Final against the Penguins.
Adam Rotter: This was the likely scenario for Kreider and should ultimately fix the problem. The next question is when Kreider will return and that likely won't be known for at least a couple of months. Kreider, like Stamkos, could start skating with the team in a month or so but only in a non-contact jersey. The best case scenarios seems to be right after while a more likely scenario might be the start of the playoffs. It also can't be ruled out that Kreider misses the rest of the season as part of his recovery. It's a wait and see process and undergoing surgery is the first step.
