Adam Rotter: There is a feeling some have that while the Rangers went into this process with an open mind, Quinn was always their number one. Others believe that they had Quinn and Jim Montgomery tied at the top and figured they would be able to land one of them. Quinn seemed unsure if he wanted to leave BU, like Montgomery did last year, but the Rangers appear to have kept pushing to get the guy they wanted. The Rangers have direct connections to BU and Quinn through Chris Drury, Ben Prentiss, Kevin Shattenkirk and with all the NCAA and players from Boston schools on the roster, the Rangers have seen a lot of his teams.
