David Quinn picked up his first career NHL coaching victory last night when Brady Skjei scored the OT winning goal against the Sharks.
Quinn said after the game that the players presented him with the puck for his first game, something that he called "pretty special" before saying he wishes he could divide the puck into "about 45 pieces" to share with the team. (NYR Game Notes)
Henrik Lundqvist presented Quinn the puck after the game, in front of a group that included James Dolan, and said that while Quinn has won games before in college or during his time as an assistant in the NHL, the first NHL win as a head coach is "special" and "a big deal." (NY Post)
On Quinn, Lundqvist added, "I like everything about his style. I like the way he communicates and interacts with the team, I like the way the whole staff goes about its business to get us prepared. I'm really happy for him." (NY Post)
