Derek Stepan scored last night in the third period to break a scoreless streak of 23 games.
He had 14 shots on goal in the past two games, including 10 last Thursday in Carolina against the Hurricanes.
Stepan spoke yesterday about a talk he had with former teammate Marty St. Louis about his drought and noted that he "toed it" on his goal but that with the goalie in a "tough position" "it worked." (NYR)
Ryan McDonagh said after the game on NBCSN that Stepan plays in all situations, kill penalties and plays tough minutes late in games.
He said that Stepan is "so good" with his positioning, has been putting a lot of pucks on net and that it's a "good sign for him breaking through."
Alain Vigneault said that Stepan has been working "extremely hard" and has been getting some "great looks" lately.
