The Rangers did not ask either Marc Staal or Dan Girardi to waive their no-move clauses in order to be exposed for the expansion draft. (NY Post)
Nick Holden and Kevin Klein will both be exposed as potential players for Vegas to take in the expansion draft.
Adam Rotter: The main benefit to asking either of them to waive their no-move clauses would have been to protect Nick Holden or Kevin Klein. Asking Staal or Girardi to waive their no-move was only a one-time thing just for the expansion draft, so even if the players did agree to being exposed that protection in their contract remains for any other moves. The Rangers could still very much buy out either or both of Staal and Girardi but those decisions don't seem related to the expansion draft.
