4/28/16 | Larry Brooks of the NY Post spoke with Rangers GM Jeff Gorton and Gorton confirmed that the Rangers have touched base with Jay Grossman, the agent for Ilya Kovalchuk.
Gorton said that "it's fair to say" that Kovalchuk is someone that the Rangers will "look at again further" as the offseason moves on. (NY Post)
Kovalchuk has been able to negotiate with teams since April 15 but is not allowed to sign until July 1.
The strong belief around the NHL is that Kovalchuk will sign with the Rangers, with reports out of Russia indicating that it could be a 2-3 year deal worth around $6 million per season.
