Alain Vigneault announced that Henrik Lundqvist will start tomorrow against the Blue Jackets. (NYR)
Lundqvist stopped 30 shots lat night before being pulled in the middle of the third period.
In two previous starts against Columbus, Lundqvist has stopped 62 of 67 shots.
On the goalies, Vigneault said on Thursday:
- "I go back to what I mentioned at the beginning of the season and that I'm not picking a number for Hank, we are looking at the schedule, how he is playing and how he is feeling. Our schedule has been as easy as it could probably get and he is feeling well and playing well. We will play him and he is playing well. We will play him and figure it out as we move along."
- On Pavelec, "it's not easy on him, he has to work hard, work harder with Benny and when we need him we are going to need him to play well. If you look at the winning percentages of our backups since I have been here, they have been very high. We need those guys to come in and play well and Pavs has to keep himself sharp. It's not easy and he has to do some extra but the next time he gets the call he has to be good for us."
Adam Rotter: I expected Lundqvist to get the start tomorrow, his 8th in a row, and I think that Pavelec will start on Sunday against Ottawa as the Rangers try to work him into some more games. For most of the time that Henrik was in net last night he was great and for a long stretch he was the only reason why the Rangers were winning. That first goal squeezed through Hank and then everything went haywire for the Rangers to start the third. I think it's the right idea for him to start tomorrow and hopefully get back to winning.
