Brady Tkachuk is ranked second by the NHLs Central Scouting Bureau, for North American skaters, and is expected to go high in this month's draft.
Tkachuk spent this past season playing under David Quinn at BU and scored 8 goals and 23 assists in 40 games. He had 3 goals and 6 assists for Team USA at the World Juniors.
Tkachuk says that Quinn was "really important" to him, was "one of the big reasons" why he went to BU and that he will "miss" playing for him. (The Athletic)
He noted that while they only spent a year together, he learned a lot about defense, how it can lead to offense and where he should position himself on the ice. (Herald)
Tkachuk said that Quinn is a "big communicator" between periods and while he will get on the players to "wake up" he is always their "biggest supporter." (NHL.com)
Adam Rotter: It seems unlikely that Tkachuk would fall to the Rangers at nine and, if he is far and away the guy they want, they might have to move all the way to three, from Montreal, to nab him. It would cost a ton and possibly Mika Zibanejad, Montreal is in desperate need of centers, and that would likely be too much for a rebuilding team to surrender. With his size, skill, grit and bloodlines he would be an excellent addition for the Rangers and outside of his obvious connection to Quinn, he is also cousins with Kevin Hayes. I'm sure there would be mutual interest in Tkachuk and Quinn continuing to work together, it just may not work out.
