At the end of last season, Jesper Fast was awarded the Player's Player award which is given to the Ranger "who best exemplifies what it means to be a team player."
Fast said that he is very proud of winning the award and of his teammates recognizing him. (NYR)
On Fast, Alain Vigneault said that they can use him on any line and that he is one of the hardest workers on the team, if not the hardest worker. (NYR)
Vigneault said that his teammates appreciate the work that Fast puts and trust that he will make the right plays on the ice, adding "that is why he has become such an important part of our team." (NYR)
Henrik Lundqvist said that Fast is "such a smart player" and that he may not get a lot of credit bu can make little plays that can make a difference. (Ranger Rants)
Joe Micheletti said that Fast plays with a lot of courage and a very high work ethic. (MSG)
Dave Maloney said that Fast is a very quiet player and it's "almost forgotten" how important he is to the Rangers. (MSG)
Vigneault said in the 2016 preseason that he doesn't mind moving Fast up and down the lineup because "I trust" his decision making and he is someone that on the right side "I have a lot of confidence in."
Joe Micheletti said, when the Rangers played the Devils at MSG in the preseason, that he is a "coaches dream" and "such a reliable defensive player."
Fast is an RFA after this season with a cap hit of $950,000 and an actual salary of $1 million.
