1/25/18 | 11:43AM: Multiple teams have reportedly expressed interest in McDonagh, according to TSN's Frank Seravalli.
1/24/18 | On TSN on Tuesday, Darren Dreger said that there has been a lot of speculation about Ryan McDonagh's future and that if the Rangers are to trade McDonagh, it's more likely to happen in the offseason.
On TSN 1050 on Wednesday, Bob McKenzie was asked about McDonagh and the idea of the Rangers potentially acquiring William Nylander in exchange, McKenzie said "No chance, I don't think the Leafs would give up Nylander for a veteran defenseman like that. I'd be really surprised to be honest, it's my opinion, not based on any inside information but I don't see that at all."
McKenzie added, "I do see where the Rangers are going to entertain offers on Ryan McDonagh. He has another year on his contract, I think he will be 29 to start next season. The same way that the Rangers looked at trading Derek Stepan for a first round pick and some prospects last year, even though they were in the playoff race, they may do the same thing if they get the right offer. There is also the chance he could be moved at the draft and also a chance that they could re-sign him at some point. I don't see the Leafs necessarily giving up one of their young pillars up front, Matthews, Marner or Nylander, not for that type of defenseman, I don't think."
Elliotte Friedman said recently that the Rangers will listen on McDonagh if "given good reason to pursue."
Adam Rotter: While the Rangers are going to listen to offers on Ryan McDonagh, it's hard to think that they will get the best possible offer by the trade deadline. It's unlikely that a team would move roster players during the year to add McDonagh and if the Rangers are going to trade Ryan McDonagh it's going to be for young players that can step in and play now. McDonagh's future and whether it's with the Rangers or someone else will likely be the biggest story to follow when the season ends.
