Igor Shesterkin has been named to Russia's Olympic team for the coming games in South Korea.
Elliotte Friedman wrote in late September that the Rangers are "quietly thrilled" that Shesterkin is making a case to start for Russia in the Olympics and noted that his coach in the KHL is also the coach of the Olympic team. (Sportsnet)
Chris Peters wrote in mid-November that Shesterkin has been a big part of SKA being the best team in the KHL (ESPN Insider)
Corey Pronman recently ranked Shesterkin,22, the 4th best goalie prospect and said that he is a "very entertaining goalie to watch" and his agility helps him make a lot of tough saves.
Pronman said that Shesterkin's "value comes from getting to pucks other goalies can't" and that he is likely to be the backup for Russia t the Olympics. (The Athletic)
This season in the KHL, Shesterkin has a record of 20-4-3 with a GAA of 1.77 and save percentage of .930.
From the Rangers, "Since the start of last season, Shesterkin has posted a 54-6-2 record, along with a 1.67 GAA, a .935 SV%, and 14 SO in 65 KHL appearances."
