Lavoie notes that the Lightning do have "several young players" that could be of interest to the Rangers.

Friedman said that the reaction to moving McDonagh would be something akin to "Oh, that's why'" and that the return coming to the Rangers would be something that helps the team in a big way. (Fan Rag)

Brooks says that Jeff Gorton should stick to what he wants in return for McDonagh and remember how Steve Yzerman "squeezed every last drop" when the Rangers acquired Marty St. Louis for Ryan Callahan. (NY Post)
McDonagh is not on the Rangers trip to Winnipeg and Minnesota and missed Friday's win over Calgary with an upper body injury.
Adam Rotter: If the Rangers are going to trade McDonagh they need to get a player like 19-year old defenseman Mikhail Sergachev. Sergachev is high end prospect/player and was acquired over the summer for another high end prospect/player in Jonathan Drouin. Getting Sergachev, and hopefully more, would be the kind of "oh, that's why" move. Others will be interested and, as Brooks noted, Jeff Gorton needs to stand firm in what he wants or hold onto McDonagh to move at the draft or use to help rebuild the team.
