The Rangers have announced that Jesper Fast underwent "successful labral repair" of his left hip.
The Rangers say that Fast's recovery time is five months.
From the Rangers "Fast, 25, skated in 68 regular season games with the Rangers this past season, registering six goals and 15 assists for 21 points, along with a plus-six rating and 16 penalty minutes. He also tallied six points (three goals, three assists) in 12 playoff contests. In addition, Fast was selected as the recipient of the Players' Player Award for the second consecutive season."
Fast is an RFA this summer after finishing up a two-year deal that had a cap hit of $950,000 and an actual salary of $1 million this past season.
The surgery for Fast does not make him exempt from the expansion draft.
