In 19 playoff games, Fast averaged 14:49 per game and played 21:24 in the Rangers Game 7 win over Washington and over 18 minutes in both Game 6 and 7 against Tampa Bay.
Alain Vigneault said during the playoffs that Fast is a "real smart, hard working player."
Following Game 2 against the Capitals, Vigneault said “for me, Jesper, there is not one particular thing other than his work ethic. Every time I see him he is full out and full go. He won’t be perfect and make all the plays with the puck, he won’t get all the defensive assignments that he has but he always goes on the ice and gives everything that he has."
6/26| Gordie Clark said at the draft, "Jesper is such a safe player and he had some injuries hold him back but he spent his time in the AHL, learned the pro game and was a vital piece. Alain had so much trust in him." (NYR)
Vigneault continued, "That is all you can ask of a player. There is no doubt that the last game was one of his best as a New York Ranger. He is another one of our very young players and is improving and following the normal process and there is no doubt that he is getting better for us.”
