Jimmy Vesey scored his first goal in 14 games Saturday night.
Vesey last scored on Feb. 16 against the Islanders and has four goals in the past 31 games.
He had two shots on goal, one shot attempt blocked, one hit and one blocked shot.
Vesey played on a line with Oscar Lindberg and Pavel Buchnevich and said that he thought his line played well together.
He said that besides the game against Florida he feels that he has been skating well and that no matter what role he plays he is trying to do what he can to help the Rangers win. (NY Post)
From the Rangers Game Notes, "Jimmy Vesey recorded the game-winning goal, registered two shots on goal, and posted a plus-one rating. He is the first Ranger who has tallied at least five game-winning goals in his rookie season since Mike Ridley in 1985-86 (six), and he ranks second on the Rangers in game-winning goals in 2016-17."
Vesey has 15 goals and 10 assists this season for the Rangers, with 106 shots on goal and an average of 13:40 per game.
Adam Rotter: I figured Vesey would get about 30 points this season and he is just about there after a really good start and then a prolonged cold streak that he is hopefully ending. He's played in 71 games this season for the Rangers but only has 106 shots which is 10th on the team. Vesey, along with a number of other Rangers, needs to shoot the puck more but that will probably come with experience. He has shown the kind of talent that brought along all of that hype last season and he will start to realize more of it as he plays in more games, different situations and gets more ice time.
