John Gilmour scored the OT winning goal for the Rangers last night in Vancouver.
From the Rangers Game Notes: "John Gilmour recorded his second career NHL goal, which was the game-winning goal in overtime, led the Rangers with five shots on goal, and posted a plus-one rating in 21:35 of ice time. Gilmour is the first Rangers rookie defenseman to record an overtime goal in franchise history, and he is the first Rangers rookie to tally an overtime goal (in the regular season) since Mats Zuccarello tallied his first career NHL goal on Jan. 5, 2011 vs. Carolina."
Gilmour spoke after the game and said (NYR):
- On the goal, Gilmour said he was focused on getting open so that Spooner could use his creativity to make a pass where all Gilmour has to do is get his stick on it.
- "You are always picturing scoring the OT winner when you go out there, rarely happens in my case but it happened tonight."
