This season, JT Miller has set a career high in points with 50, assists with 31 and a career high of .71 points per game.
In the last three seasons, Miller's points per game has increased from .40 in 2014-15, .52 in 2015-16 to his current mark of .71.
Miller is in the first year of a two-year bridge deal that has a cap hit and salary of $2.75 million in both seasons.
Alain Vigneault said that that there is "no doubt" that there is a lot of potential with Miller and that he still has areas of his game that need to improve.
Vigneault said that Miller is making a lot of plays with the puck but that he needs to continue to work on his reads when he doesn't have the puck.
He added, "in both areas I think there is room for improvement and a better player will continue to progress."
Miller had nine goals and 13 assists in the first 35 games this season, with 65 shots on goal and an average of 16:09.
He has 10 goals and 18 assists in the past 35 games with 49 shots on goal and an average of 16:38 per game.
