5:55PM: Vigneault said that the Rangers want to see Miller at center and that "at some point" he is going to "play a little bit of center."
He said that there is an opportunity at center for the Rangers and that right now their depth of "natural centers" is "on the respectable line" so it's worth it to see Miller in that spot.
Vigneault added that Miller is also a veteran player now who has a lot of experience.

Jeff Gorton said earlier this summer that the Rangers did have the "luxury" of Miller being a natural center.

Adam Rotter: Whether Miller stays at center through training camp and into the season will likely depend on how he performs in the middle and if the Rangers feel they have any other option that has stood out. Putting Miller in the middle gives the Rangers back a lot of their depth at center and also opens up a spot in the top-nine on the wing for someone to step up. I expected Miller to be on the wing and for David Desharnais to be the Rangers third line center and for Lias Andersson, Boo Nieves and maybe someone else to battle for the fourth line spot to start the year. Now the Rangers will appear to have Deharnais as the fourth line center and maybe Andersson, Nieves or someone else to play on his wing.
It's the first day of training camp and there have certainly been plans and ideas that have been constructed but have fallen apart before the season ever starts. Center was going to be a big topic heading into the season, during the season and around the trade deadline, so it makes some sense that the Rangers are going down this route to start, but I expect there to be many changes, flips and moves when it comes to how the Rangers handle the center position
