Kevin Hayes was named the number one star and awarded the Broadway Hat after today's win over Nashville.
Hayes spoke after the game on MSG and said:
- On his line, "the last few games we have been good, we try to keep it simple in the D zone and don't cheat. If we play good D we can generate some offense and tonight I thought we did that."
- On Vesey and Fast, "those two guys, you know what you are going to get. They are honest players, work hard and don't mind hitting guys. When they are getting on the D like that it generates a lot of open space and tonight we could have buried a lot more chances, we had good possession in the offensive zone."
- On his goal, "I got some speed and their D was standing flat footed, it's not often that I beat guys wide but tonight it happened and luckily it went in."
- On the win, "it's big. We have been struggling and to play 60 minutes and get two points in front of our fans, hopefully it's a spring board to a lot of other things."
3:46PM: Alain Vigneault spoke about Hayes after the game and said, "I think since I put that line together with Jimmy (Vesey) and Jesper (Fast), it's a real hard working line. It's simple, north-south, get it in deep, work the corners, work on the forecheck. I think Kevin with his size and his hockey smarts, he fits in real well. The last couple of games, he's gotten big goals for us and I want that to continue for sure." (NYR Game Notes)
