Kevin Klein has been out since 2/21 and has missed the past 13 games with back spasms.
Alain Vigneault said on Monday that Klein, along with Dan Girardi, have both been cleared medically to return but after being out so long they need to get back "up to speed."
Vigneault cited pace and execution as two things that Klein and Girardi need to get back.
Klein said, "I've had 5 or 6 really good skates in a row, now it's about getting back into shape" and added "If all goes well then I should be playing pretty soon." (NYR)
He added that his conditioning has been better than expected and that he has been working really hard off the ice. (NYR)
Both Klein and Girardi will be with the Rangers on their California trip.
