DALLAS -- Kevin Klein scored with 2:53 left to lift the Rangers over the Dallas Stars 3-2 on Saturday.
Ryan McDonagh gave the Rangers a 2-1 lead with a goal 8:26 into the third, and then helped prevent a tying goal by sliding over a loose puck at the goal line.
Valeri Nichushkin scored for Dallas with 4:01 left, but then Klein got the winner from the slot into the upper right corner of the net.
Chris Kreider also scored, and Henrik Lundqvist made 36 saves for the Rangers. Second-place New York is 16 points behind Metropolitan Division-leading Washington.
Colton Sceviour also scored for the Stars, and Kari Lehtonen made 26 saves. Dallas has lost four of its past five home games and has a one-point lead in the Central Division over Chicago.
- A pretty solid game for the Rangers who again showed some very nice resiliency with scoring the game winner right after Dallas tied it.
- Henrik Lundqvist was good again, Ryan McDonagh was good and Chris Kreider has goals in two straight games.
- It certainly feels like a big deal that the Rangers have won 5 of 6 on the road and back to back games against two very good Western Conference teams.
- I'm not sure what we will see different on Monday night against Columbus. I think the Rangers will make some move(s) before the deadline but there isn't much chatter suggesting it could be something big. It seems like the Rangers will look to add some more bottom six depth and maybe another defenseman as insurance.
