On MSG, Henrik Lundqvist was asked about the game tying goal that Sidney Crosby score and said:
- On the tying goal, "I think you watched five replays so you probably know what happened, he banged it off me and it's not the first time that happens. As a goalie you just need to make sure you are alert. Try to deflect the pass but when it goes right at you like that, sometimes you need some luck. I didn't have it in that situation. I don't know what else to say. It was a tough goal to give up late in the game. Sometimes it's easy to face a shot then have a play like that where my stick is there and it's a just a bad bounce, that is what it is."
- Were you surprised on the tying goal, "when the puck is there you wait for the next play and when it bangs it off your stick like that you hope it doesn't go the way it went in. It went back and not in front of me. Sometimes you need to hide behind the post and some players, Crosby does it a lot. Just gotta learn from it. Maybe it was a little surprising, I didn't expect that."
Rangers captain Ryan McDonagh was asked about the Pens goal in OT and said:
- On the OT turnover, "giveaway by me, costly mistake, obviously huge. I let the team down in OT."
- More on the turnover, "I should be able to make a read there and keep it on the boards instead of trying to go through. It was a really bad play by me."
He added that overall it was a "hearbreaker" and "crusher" to lose this game.
