Henrik Lundqvist will start for the Rangers Thursday night against the Islanders after getting a rest in the Rangers 3-2 win over Columbus on Monday.
In the five games he played prior to getting the night off, Lundqvist was 5-0-0, stopping 174 of 184 shots for a save percentage of .946.
Lundqvist said Wednesday that it was good for him to get in a bunch of games and that it allowed him to find the right level of focus. (NYR)
He noted that he was playing well but also that he was glad to have the night off and it allowed him to work on his game in practice. (NYR)
In two games against the Islanders this season, Lundqvist:
- Stopped 25 of 28 shots in the Rangers' opening night win at MSG
- Stopped 28 of 32 shots in the Rangers' 4-2 loss in Brooklyn on Dec. 6
In three games in Brooklyn over the past two years, Lundqvist is 0-2-1 and has stopped 93 of 100 shots.
