Henrik Lundqvist was on NHL Tonight last night and said (NHL):
- On his knee, "I'm feeling good. I took some time off after the World Championships, rested up in Sweden and then started training the way I have been training the past 12-13 years. Nothing really changed, I just need an extra couple of weeks before the start of training but I've been skating since the start of August. No issues at all, feels really good to be back on the ice and August is a month where you have to work really hard to get."
- On his Statue of Liberty pads, "when it comes to design, as a goalie you have an opportunity to express yourself on the mask and now the pads will be more design. Working with Bauer they can print design on the pads and you can get a lot of detail work in there. For my design, I like sharp edges and find it more aggressive and I like that look. The Statue of Liberty has been there but it's just the beginning, I'll probably switch the design a couple of times during the season and we will see where it ends up."
- On 9/11, "I've been in NY for 12 years and coming over for my first year, you understand the impact, not only companies but families, friends, colleagues, they were all impacted by this day. You understand the importance of this day. You reflect but you also appreciate how the City came together after it happened. I really admire the way the City bounced back and it's important to really not forget and to remember what happened but also how the City moved on. As an athlete you understand importance but also want to help and honor and support people who have been through it."
