3/16/17 | 10:07AM: The Rangers have confirmed that Magnus Hellberg has been called up on an emergency basis.
9:50AM: The Rangers have recalled Hellberg from Hartford, according to the AHL transaction wire.
3/14/17 | 10:54AM: The Rangers sent Hellberg back to Hartford after calling him up on emergency Saturday due to the injury to Henrik Lundqvist.
Hellberg was the backup in the past two games and will likely be called back up later in the week before the Rangers play Friday against Florida at MSG and then travel to Minnesota to play on Saturday.
From the Rangers announcement, "Hellberg was recalled by the Rangers on an emergency basis on Mar. 11. He has appeared in one game with the Rangers this season, stopping all four shots he faced in the third period on Jan. 17 vs. Dallas. The 6-6, 209-pounder has appeared in 31 games with the Wolf Pack in 2016-17, posting an 11-11-5 record, along with a 2.91 GAA and a .902 SV%. He has allowed two goals or fewer in six of his last nine AHL starts, dating back to Dec. 26. Hellberg stopped 26 of 27 shots he faced and earned a win in his last start with the Wolf Pack on Feb. 26 vs. Binghamton."
