Adam Rotter: Weber has the big shot, is a big guy, grows the great playoff beard and much more of a name than Yandle. Weber is an elite player while Yandle may be just below that. Frankly, there is much more talk of Weber because it seems likelier that he will move. He is also a righty shot which the team needs. He is going to command upwards of a $100 million in a new deal.
Yandle is 25, a lefty shot, and under contract for the next four seasons at $5.25 million. The obvious pick would be Weber based on name recognition, but I think Yandle, who knows John Tortorella from the 2010 Olympics, might be a better, certainly more cost effective, play. The cost in terms of assets to get either will be similar and Maloney won't be doing favors for anyone when it comes to dealing one of his best players.
