He added, "He doesn’t know what his plan is or what interest is out there. He is training as if he is going to play if their is a suitor and a fit that works for his family. " (KK)
Richards salary in 2013-14 with the Rangers was $9 million.
Darren Dreger said on TSN 1050 this morning that if Marty St. Louis wants to continue to play he may have to do something similar to what Richards did.
Dreger said, "If he wants to continue to play he will have to take way way way way less and as a veteran player if you are willing to do that you put yourself in a situation to pick and choose."
St. Louis had a cap hit of $5.625 million last year but an actual salary of $5 million.
Adam Rotter: If St. Louis is going to take "way, way, way, way" less, I think he ends up back with the Rangers. He only wanted to be traded to the Rangers and while the Devils and Islanders are both close enough options, in relation to his family, this is where he wants to be. I think the team would like him back, but only at a cap hit that makes it worth it. He can still help this team get into the playoffs and you have to think he will be extra motivated based upon how his playoffs went.
