Adam Rotter: As the Rangers move forward in their transition and attempt to win, make the playoffs and bring along a group of young players that can return them to contention, they will need veterans to lead and Zuccarello is perfect for that. Besides the fact that Zuccarello can still be a productive scorer and offensive player, he sets the kind of example that David Quinn will want all of his players to follow.
All of that said, I think the Rangers will get more calls and interest in Zuccarello after the first few dominoes fall at the draft and in free agency. I'm not sure if someone will pay what the Rangers think Zuccarello is worth in a trade, but he makes sense for a team looking to win and that needs secondary scoring. If he does stay with the Rangers, he could certainly be someone they look to move as a rental close to the trade deadline.
