Zuccarello said that the team is starting "something new" and that he believes they are going to be "good next year." (NY Post)
He has one-year left on his deal and has been praised by Alain Vigneault for his role as a leader and mentor to the Rangers young players.
Zuccarello toldthat he feels he can be a good teammate and positive part of the Rangers rebuild even if it takes 1-2-3 years, adding, "I feel I can be a good player to have in that process."
He added that he thinks that with some moves in free agency the Rangers can be good again quickly and be in a position to fight for the playoffs. (Nettavisen)
Adam Rotter: I think that the Rangers will listen on Zuccarello and if someone bowls them over at the draft with picks, prospects or players they will move him. I think that the price will be high and I'm starting to believe more and more that come July 1 Zuccarello will not only still be with the Rangers bu get a 2-3 year extension and, come training camp, the "C" on his jersey. He's the heart of this team, works hard and along with Henrik Lundqvist and, likely, Marc Staal, can help the Rangers transition from what they were to what they will be. You need veteran players and unless the Rangers get a monster package, one of those veterans should continue to be Mats Zuccarello.
