Against the Coyotes last night, Matt Puempel scored thrice on the PP including the game winner in the third period.
Puempel had 5 shots on goal against Arizona, the same amount of shots on goal he had in his previous 5 games.
Puempel told John Giannone after the game that he viewed coming to the Rangers as a "fresh start" and that a big part of his growing comfort has to do with how welcoming the players and coaches have been.
Alain Vigneault said after the game that Puempel is working "extremely hard," has an offensive "knack" to his game and that "hopefully a game like tonight will give him more confidence and he will be able to help us out moving forward."
Prior to the Christmas break, Vigneault said that Puempel "definitely" has some potential, has a good release and that in the games he has played "he has played well."
In 12 games with the Rangers, Puempel has 5 goals, 1 assist, a minus two rating, 15 shots on goal and is averaging 9:58 per game.
JT Miller said of Puempel, "he is pretty simple. I played against him in juniors a lot, US/Canada games. Really skilled and talented player, he is on the PP for a reason and doing a great job in front of the net. (NYR)
