9:17PM: Alain Vigneault said on Saturday "that was the second time in the game and both of those turnovers, unfortunately, led to goals. You are caught with 7-8 minutes left and you need to shorten your bench. We are down by a goal and I thought we were in real good shape. We came back from a 2 goal deficit, tied the game, thought we were building momentum in a hard fought game. Every game is different and some have more flow. Both teams were checking pretty good, there weren't 10 chances on both sides. It was one of those games and unfortunately we gave up a 2 on 1 on our PP that led to a goal. Sometimes as a coach you have to make decisions. After he made his first turnover I threw him back out there. I have a lot of confidence in JT but sometimes you need to go with guys who you think are giving you a little bit more and I felt there were some other guys giving a little more. He will have a chance tomorrow to get right back at it." (NYR)
11:12AM: JT Miller was a minus two in 15:40, had 3 shots on goal, 1 giveaway and was 0-3 on faceoffs in last night's loss to the Blue Jackets.
Miller played 6:24 in the first, 4:54 in the second and 4:22 in the third but did not take a shift in the final 8:25 of the third.
Miller's turnovers in the first and third period led directly to goals against including the shorthanded game winner. His final shift of the game coincided with the game winning goal.
Alain Vigneault said that he didn't play Miller in the second half of the third period because of his turnovers and decisions with the puck. (NY Post)
He said that at the time he decided to go with other players. (NY Post)
Adam Rotter: Last night doesn't erase anything Miller has done this season or last. It was one bad game, a few bad decisions with the puck and like other players this season (Jimmy Vesey, Chris Kreider, Mika Zibanejad) he saw the bench. Miller has been one of the Rangers best point producers this season and I am sure that he will be back playing big minutes and an important role when the Rangers play Florida on Sunday.
