Vladislav Namestnikov's agent told a Russian news outlet that the Rangers forward will not play for Russia at the World Championships as he recovers from an injury. (Tass)
His agent noted that Namestnikov wanted to play for the Russian team and the fact that he is an RFA and without a contract did not play a role in his decision not to play. (Tass)
In his time with the Rangers this season, Namestnikov had 2 goals and 2 assists in 19 games, 28 shots on goal and an average of 15:43 per game.
Alain Vigneault said on 4/3, "Vladdy is a skilled forward that can create room for himself to make plays. We need to see more, we haven't seen enough of those plays."
Namestnikov said on break up day that the "future is bright" for the Rangers and that while he grew up playing center, he can play all three forward positions. (NYR)
