2/9/17 | 5:03PM: Alain Vigneault said of Holden, "every time we talk about Nick since he has been here, the first word that comes to mind is dependability. He has been very dependable, steady, high percentage, like any player he will make the odd mistake. I like his dependability when he doesn't have the puck, I like his dependability when he does have the puck. He makes the play in front of him, if it's an easy early outlet he will use it, if it's not there and its a flip or the glass he will get it out and he has been effective for us and out of all of our left handed D, other than Mac, he is the guy that is most comfortable."
12/31/16 | 3:09PM: Alain Vigneault said on Saturday, "our scouts and management felt very strong about him in the sense that they all thought we were getting a trustworthy defenseman who could be versatile. Could go from a third pair to a first pair depending on how he was playing, and how the group was playing. Could help you out on a second PP unit and there is no doubt that he has done that. It's a small community, there was a French coach here before which I am good friends with and we talked in the summer about him and he felt the same way, that he was versatile and trustworthy and would be a good fit for us."
