Del Zotto told the NY Times that his maturity has played a big factor in his improvement:
“But this year, I’ve matured and done a good job of keeping myself not too high, not too low. You can’t get down on yourself, because it’s a tough league to play in, especially for a young defenseman. Improving my confidence has probably been the biggest thing for meHenrik Lundqvist told the Times that Del Zotto was playing with a lot of confidence.
John Tortorella told the media recently that he has been very impressed with Del Zotto this season "He has been real good. The thing that is encouraging to me is that he listened as we were going through some steps last year. He made some adjustments as far as the mental part of the game, came into camp in really good shape and he has defended hard which has been a huge improvement."
"I think his offensive is starting to come more and more, but the biggest improvement to me is his mindset and learning to be a pro. We expect so much out of him at such a young age because of the way he latched onto us, this is another part of the process and we are trying to be patient with him and help him as he regains the right level of swagger."

Del Zotto had a pretty solid weekend being a plus six and adding three points. His passes are crisp, he is playing physical and smart and the only thing missing right now is that his shot is still missing the net. It is all a process though and this Del Zotto is one that the Rangers can be happy to move forward with.
