Reports out of Russia indicate that former Kings defenseman Slava Voynov is interested in returning to the NHL. (Sports Express)
The Rangers are listed as one of five teams that Voynov is reportedly interested in joining. (Sports Express)
Larry Brooks tweets that there is "no evidence" that the Rangers have any interest in Voynov.
Voynov did compete as part of the Russian Olympic team this year and he has spent the past three seasons as a teammate of Ilya Kovalchuk with SKA in the KHL.
The Kings still retain the rights to Voynov and they said that the entire situation is up to Voynov, his agents and the league.
Adam Rotter: Despite the fact that the Rangers and Glen Sather have given a number of players a second chance (Sean Avery, Jarret Stoll, Ryan Malone) this seems highly unlikely on a number of fronts. On top of all of the questions about why and everything else that would come with even thinking about this potential type of move, I'm sure the Rangers would not want him as part of the locker room of a growing group that is developing a culture and finding it's way. This just doesn't seem like something that Jeff Gorton would do.
