5/25/18 | During his press conference yesterday, David Quinn spoke about how tough it was for him to leave Boston University.
He noted that long-term friendships with Chris Drury and Jeff Gorton helped him make the choice and while speaking with Mike Francesa on WFAN, Quinn said:
"Sitting around and going through what to do, I thought to myself, would there be anything cooler than winning a Stanley Cup in New York City, coaching the New York Rangers. And the only way to do that is to coach the New York Rangers. That was part of my decision making process for sure."
When Kevin Shattenkirk signed with the Rangers last year, he said "the opportunity to win a Stanley Cup in New York, as a hometown kid, that achievement would far surpass all of the pressure you have to deal with along the way. To me that is worth going through."
