Oscar Lindberg is scheduled to be the healthy scratch tonight for the Rangers with Chris Kreider returning to the lineup.
Alain Vigneault said on Monday that Lindberg would be the "odd man out" and said that it had more to do with the other lines than with Lindberg's play.
He said that Derek Stepan's line is generating offense, that Mika Zibanejad's line is generating offense and getting Chris Kreider back, Kevin Hayes' line had a hat trick on Sunday and that with Kreider returning Pavel Buchnevich gets moved down.
Vigneault added that "it's just the way it is and I am sure he will get another opportunity and he will play well for us."
Lindberg said after Sunday's game against Tampa that he isn't really happy with his game yet and knows that there is "a bit to go" before he gets to where he wants to be. (Hockey Sverige)
In four games, since returning early from his hip surgery recovery, Lindberg has 3 shots on goal, a plus one rating, 2 PIM, an average of 10:15 per game, 3 hits, 3 blocked shots and has won 59.4% of faceoffs.
When Lindberg has been on the ice at 5 on 5, the Rangers have had 31 shot attempts for an 47 against. (Natural Stat Trick)
