Vigneault said that there is a "lot of hockey left" and that while Buchnevich has been dealing with some inconsistencies, "he is going to play."
He continued that the Rangers have a "lot of faith in his skill level and the way that he can play" and that he has had some good games lately.
Larry Brooks wrote in the NY Post that if Buchnevich isn't in the lineup to work through his issues then the Rangers likely won't be able to count on him contributing in the playoffs.
Adam Rotter: Sitting tonight will not derail and ruin Buchnevich's potential or ability as an NHLer. If he were to sit the entire rest of the season and playoffs, that would be another story but 1 game here and there, if that is all it is, isn't going to be a big thing.
If Buchnevich plays in 8 of the Rangers 11 games after tonight, or maybe all of them, will it matter that he was scratched against Florida or a few other times this season? He's going to play and he's still viewed as an enormous part of the Rangers future.
He's a young player going through The Process™ and there is no doubt that the Tanner Glass part of this decision is what is frustrating and angering so many. Like new lines or defense pairs that change often and rile up so many, this could all be moot tomorrow if Buchnevich plays against the Wild.
