He has 5 goals and 2 assists in the past 6 games, scoring on 33% of his shots and averaging 15:29 per game.
Buchnevich said that he is feeling better this season than he did last season and is playing with more confidence. (NYR)
Mika Zibanejad said that Buchnevich's experience of having a year under his belt has helped and said that he has a good mentality of putting things behind him and moving on to the next shift. (NYR)
Alain Vigneault said recently that Buchnevich came to camp better prepared but, with his skill set, still has a lot of room for improvement.
He added that Buchnevich can "be a real solid player and he is trying to get better and we are trying to get him better."
Vigneault said on 10/20, "Buch is a young player, played around 30 games last year, is learning to become a pro, to be consistent, still out on the first PP unit. He has a tremendous amount of skill and will continue to get better for us."
Vigneault said on 10/26 that Buchnevich has been "playing well."
Henrik Lundqvist was asked about Buchnevich on 11/6 and said that the two had recently spoken about "life" and how Buchnevich is more comfortable with everything and everyone in his second year. (MSG)
He added, "you can see it in his game; he's more comfortable, he's more confident. He's a fun player to watch too. He can make moves that you don't expect. He has a great shot and he's a very determined guy. So I am really happy for him and it's important for us to have him playing like this." (MSG)
Adam Rotter: You could tell from the preseason that Buchnevich was a different player than he was last year. He battled injury and obviously a big adjustment moving to another continent but this year he looks very much like the player he was touted to be. He has certainly found some nice chemistry with Mika Zibanejad but even when Buchnevich was on the fourth line for a few games he was still making plays with the puck and creating offense. If Buchnevich can keep up his solid play and end up in the 40-50 point range it would be a huge victory for the Rangers and hopefully an even bigger indication of what might be to come in the future.
