Pavel Buchnevich is slated to start tonight's game with Mika Zibanejad and JT Miller after starting with Jimmy Vesey and David Desharnais on Wednesday.
Alain Vigneault said on Friday that he likes the chemistry between Buchnevich and Zibanejad and that JT Miller can do some of the things that Chris Kreider, their former linemate, does.
Larry Brooks wrote on Thursday that it's "nuts" when Buchnevich is not on the Rangers top line. (NY Post)
Brooks suggested on Thursday that Vigneault put Buchnevich with Zibanejad and Miller. (NY Post)
In 40 games this season, Buchnevich has 11 goals and 15 assists in 14:43 per game after scoring 8 goals and 12 assists in 41 games and 13:16 per game last year.
He only has 3 goals, and 8 assists, in the last 22 games and has a shooting percentage of 7.5% in that stretch.
Adam Rotter: It's a catch-22 because if Buchnevich isn't producing or playing well then he shouldn't play on the top line, but he also has his best chance to create offense on the top line. Miller isn't as fast as Kreider but he does a lot of the power forward type of things that Kreider does and that will hopefully make for an easy transition with Buchnevich and Zibanejad.
