The Rangers have reportedly called up center Peter Holland from the Wolf Pack and sent Boo Nieves back to Hartford.
After being acquired the Rangers sent Holland to Hartford with an eye on potentially calling him up during the season.
With the Wolf Pack, Holland has 14 points in 16 games after netting 19 points in 20 games with Montreal's AHL team earlier this year.
Holland has 243 games of NHL experience with 35 goals and 46 assists, 13:17 per game and a career 45.6% faceoff percentage.
Nieves has played in 28 games for the Rangers this season with 1 goal and 8 assists, a plus six rating, 10:12 per game and 44.2% on faceoffs.
Nieves has had 30 hits, 19 blocked shots, 19 takeaways and 9 giveaways.
Adam Rotter: It was reported earlier in the day that Holland was going to be called up and I thought that it made sense. There is uncertainty around Kevin Hayes and adding Holland would give the Rangers a potential scoring center with NHL experience. I did not expect that Holland to be called up at the expense of Boo Nieves being sent down. Nieves, like pretty much the rest of the team, saw his game slip but he certainly wasn't one of the Rangers main problems. I'm sure Nieves will be back up with the Rangers in the next few weeks/months but for now Peter Holland has a chance to make an impact with the Rangers.
