The Rangers have announced that they have hired Steve Konowalchuk as an Amateur Scout.
Konowalchuk will primarily be responsible for scouting in the WHL.
He spent last season as an assistant coach with Anaheim after spending the previous six seasons as head coach of the Seattle Thunderbirds.
Konowalchuk was an assistant with Colorado for two seasons while David Quinn was the head coach of Colorado's AHL team.
He played 790 career games in the NHL over parts of 14 seasons.
Konowalchuk coached Rangers prospect Ryan Gropp while Gropp played for Seattle.
