Jeff Gorton said at the draft that 9th overall pick Vitali Kravtsov wants to be in North America "sooner than later." (NY Post)
Kravtsov is believed to have one-year left on his KHL contract but may also have the option of buying out that season. (NY Post)
If Kravtsov were to buy out the final year of his KHL contract he would be allowed to play in the AHL in the same way that Filip Chytil did last season. (NY Post)
Gorton said on Monday that Kravtsov's agent is coming to town later this week and that there are a lot of factors that go into the decision of where he will play.
When asked if his situation was similar to the one Filip Chytil was in last year, Gorton said "I think it's similar. All situations are different and that when Filip came here he had shown an interest in coming here, whether he wanted to go to Juniors or not, he started thinking about playing in Hartford, he liked the idea, his agent liked the idea and if he was under our control we could control his schedule and nutrition and English. It has really worked out well for him and I think that is something we look at with Kravtsov's."
