MIka Zibanejad's four points on Tuesday extended his point streak to three games and he has five goals and three assists in the last five games.
Following last night's game, David Quinn said "I can't tell you how happy I am for him that he's getting rewarded statistically, because I know early on he was playing really good hockey and not getting rewarded." (NYR Game Notes)
Quinn added, "I'll tell you, he's a complete player. I knew he was a good player before I got this job, I didn't know he was this good. This is a guy that does a little bit of everything - he's got skill, he's tough, he can skate. And he's an unbelievable guy, too. He's a fun guy to be around and we're lucky to have him." Right before the season started, Quinn said that was so "impressed" with Zibanajead, not just from a skill standpoint but with how he works, prepares and his determination. (NY Post)
Prior to the start of the season, Zibanejad said that he doesn't think he had ever been in better shape "mentally or physically" and that he put in a lot of work to become leaner and faster. (NY Post)
Zibanejad said that he has to be an all-around player and strong defensively but that it's frustrating when the bounces don't go his way offensively. (Newsday)
